However, if you still prefer to go by car, follow Cosme Velho via Ladeira dos Guararapes, going up the steep hill. On the right, take Conselheiro Lampreia street until the intersection with the “Corcovado-Mirante” sign. Turn left, onto Estrada das Paineiras, and ahead see another sign indicating “Paineiras-Corcovado”. Passenger cars must only go to Paineiras. Remember that even if you go up on foot, you still need a ticket to access Christ the Redeemer!

This is a good option to enjoy outdoor activities and interact with the landscape surrounded by waterfalls, tropical plants and wild animals, in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

However, due to the problems of urban violence in Rio de Janeiro and the proximity of some local communities to the presence of drug trafficking, it is recommended that this walk be carried out with the accompaniment of an accredited guide.

Despite being well signposted, the trail can be a challenge for those who are not used to the landscapes of the Atlantic Forest. Physical preparation is also a requirement, remember: Christ the Redeemer is located 709 meters above sea level!
