First official SpongeBob themed restaurant in the world is in Brazil

The first official SpongeBob themed restaurant in the world started operating in Brazil. The famous Nickelodeon cartoon has gained a complex that promises to win over children and even the most nostalgic adults, not only because of the special menu but also because of the structure of the place itself. We went to see the facilities in São Paulo to see everything up close, see how it was!

The recently opened Bob Esponja Burger & Restaurante was opened in the same location where Jurassic Park Burger previously operated, which was also successful in São Paulo.

Completely redesigned, dinosaurs have now made their way into the Bikini Bottom universe. The space very well reproduces the scenery of characters such as Patrick Estrela, Squidward, Sandy Cheeks, and all the characters from the SpongeBob cartoon.

The theme restaurant's proposal is to offer unforgettable family moments, in which visitors, both adults and children, can enjoy eating and having fun together.

The experience begins at the entrance, where you receive SpongeBob's driver's license, as a souvenir gift and a warning that the game is about to begin. For those who don't know, in the cartoon the character tries to get his license to drive thousands of times, hence the reference.

From then on there is a festive atmosphere, with children running happily everywhere enjoying the family moment. There's a kids' area with ball pools, slides, lots of colors and plenty of fun!

On the ground floor there is fast food, with options ranging from snacks and conventional snacks to the long-awaited crab burger. Yes, you can eat Bikini Bottom's favorite snack – and SpongeBob's specialty!

Upstairs, there is a restaurant with “real food”, with options such as pasta and meat. On the same floor, there is the Holandês Voador lounge, which functions as a kind of bar with snacks and drinks.

Another option inside the restaurant is the shop, with various personalized items from the SpongeBob universe. There are slippers, dolls, neck rests, popcorn buckets and even pajamas!

Separating one floor from another, there are some corridors filled with pictures on the wall showing SpongeBob in different versions. As a result, literally all areas are personalized with items from the main character.

While the children play, parents can follow or explore the menu full of delicious options designed by chef Heaven Delhaye.

The ground floor invites visitors to try the restaurant's snacks, drawing attention to the variety of options offered. There are eight burger options, including options for vegans and vegetarians. Sandwiches cost between R$23.90 and R$44.90.

On the same floor there is also a small ice cream shop with different flavors of ice cream. The pots are also personalized with characters from the cartoon.

The highlight is the famous crab burger, which costs R$ 39.90. It is the only one that comes in a customized box with SpongeBob's face, and the other characters on the side.

An important detail is that despite the name “crabby burger”, it is actually made with a mixture of fish. Well, it's very likely that the original isn't made with crab meat either, since the recipe was invented by Mr. Krabs (who's a crab!) and the secret formula is kept under lock and key… But the important thing is that the snack is very tasty!

We also tried the double bacon, which comes with two meats and a salad, and it was very tasty, with super juicy meat! It was so worth it!

There are also tasty starters such as tapioca dice (R$ 29.90 with four pieces), rib dumplings (R$ 27.90 with four pieces) and fries, all with customized packaging featuring SpongeBob characters, really cute!

The kids combo is the option most requested by children. For R$39.90, it comes with a burger or a portion of nuggets, fries and a juice, which you can choose between orange or grape. There’s also a special gift to take home – the day we went we got this little bucket in the photo!

Upstairs, you can feel Chef Heaven's gastronomic touch a little more, where there is a “real food” option.

Here, portions and snacks are offered and even a mini version of the crab burger (R$ 25.90), but the highlight is dishes such as spaghetti with pomodoro sauce with meat (R$ 42.90) and filet mignon parmigiana with risotto (R$ 91.90).

All areas are decorated, allowing visitors a very fun experience in the SpongeBob universe. The colors of the environments change to make the experience even more interesting!

Despite having the signature of chef Heaven Delhaye, it is not possible to compare the menu at SpongeBob's restaurant with that of his renowned restaurant in Rio de Janeiro, D'Heaven, which serves French food.

Here in São Paulo, the menu features quicker meals, without much complexity on the palate, but still full of flavor. It's worth trying!

Where is SpongeBob's Restaurant

Bob Esponja Burguer & Restaurante is located on Rua Prof. Atílio Innocenti, 53 – Vila Nova Conceição, São Paulo – SP.

Because it is new, on weekends the queue to get in is very long, with waits of up to four hours, according to reports. As the restaurant doesn't take reservations, it takes a little luck to get a table.

The good news is that from Monday to Thursday the place is much quieter, which is my recommendation for those who want to enter without a long queue.

If you are going by car, there is a valet at the door available for R$40. In this case, just stop in front of the restaurant and hand the key to the valets. When leaving, just present your ticket and they will take the car to you. All forms of payment are accepted.

Unfortunately, parking is prohibited on the restaurant's street, but you can look for spaces nearby if you don't want valet parking.
