If you want to see one of the most famous castles in Europe, Edinburgh Castle is a must-see. In addition to a privileged view of the city, you can explore the halls, museums and see the crown jewels. You have access to St. Margaret's Chapel, built in 1130 and the oldest building in Edinburgh.
2 – Highlands of Scotland
The Scottish Highlands are a spectacle for the senses, with mountains, lakes and valleys. Glencoe, one of the most iconic, is a must for nature lovers. Explore this epic landscape, breathe the fresh air and contemplate the grandeur of nature.
In addition to Glencoe, you need to visit Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, one of the country's postcards, and also Fort William, where you will find yourself at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the United Kingdom.
There's also the beautiful Isle of Skye to visit, one of my favorite parts of Scotland! And of course there are other islands like the Isle of Mull and the Isle of Arran. In fact, Scotland has more than 800 islands to explore.
3 – Loch Ness
It is the famous home of the legend of the Loch Ness Monster! Take a boat trip and be enchanted by the landscapes while keeping your eyes open in search of the mysterious Nessie. Around the lake there are many amazing villages to visit, as well as Inverness, the main city in the Highlands!
4 – Royal Mile
The Royal Mile is the historic heart of Edinburgh, a street that connects Edinburgh Castle to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the current residence of the royal family in the capital. Wander its cobblestone streets and discover traditional shops, cozy pubs and vibrant cultural life. St. Giles' Cathedral and the Royal Mary King's Close are interesting destinations along this history-filled thoroughfare.
The Royal Mile is named after the ancient Scottish measurement of a mile, and the length is different from the English mile. The origin of the name dates back to the 16th century, when Scotland adopted the Scottish mile as a standard unit of measurement.
5 – The West Highland train line
Attention Harry Potter fans! The West Highland train line offers a magical experience, making you feel like you're on the Hogwarts Express. Departing from Fort William, this Jacobite Train route includes the famous Glenfinnan viaduct, which was immortalized on screen as the Hogwarts train in the films of the saga.
