A journey guided by flavors, how about that? If you appreciate good cuisine, it's worth checking out the list of the 50 best restaurants in the world 2024 to include one (or some) of them on your next trip. Maybe you won't even need to go far, since in this edition we have three Brazilian restaurants in the ranking!

With restaurants from 26 territories on five continents, The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2024 ranking has reached its 22nd edition. This year the highlight was Spain, which secured three places in the top five, in addition to the country being able to showcase that it has the best restaurant in the world!

The 50 best restaurants in the world

5th place: Maido – Lima, Peru

In the trendy neighborhood of Miraflores, in lime, there is the Maido restaurant, by chef Mitsuharu 'Micha' Tsumura. The place offers a combination of Japanese techniques and Peruvian ingredients in Nikkei cuisine. Customers can choose the tasting menu and à la carte dishes, with delicacies such as The Triple, a combination of avocado, eggs, tomato and chashu (braised pork belly); and caracoles al sillao (soy sauce), sea snails, with yellow pepper foam and Nikkei sauce.

In this edition, chef Micha was elected by his peers as the winner of the Estrella Damm Chefs' Choice Award in the 2024 World's 50 Best Restaurants.

4th place: Diverxo – Madrid, Spain

Chef Dabiz Muñoz describes his cuisine as “hedonistic, creative and unpredictable”. And the award states that its customers can expect exactly that at Diverxo, in Madrid. “Muñoz likes to push gastronomic boundaries as much as possible,” said the judges.

The restaurant itself is a work of art, from the bold decor to the theatrical dishes, with unique combinations like Japanese paella or baked caviar with vindaloo curry and Greek yogurt. To top it all off, everything can be paired with the incredible selection of wines from the Best Sommelier in the World 2023, Miguel Ángel Millán.

3rd place: Table by Bruno Verjus – Paris, France

Table features a long wave-shaped counter that creates private corners in the beautiful Paris. On the other hand, it offers an open kitchen for everyone to see the art in the kitchen, prepared by chef Bruno Verjus.

With friendly service, stunning wine and incredible food, the restaurant achieved the rare feat of breaking into the top 10 in its first appearance on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list in 2023, climbing even higher now in 2024.

2nd place: Asador Etxebarri – Atxondo, Spain

Located in a peaceful village surrounded by mountains and lush vegetation, Asador Etxebarri welcomes food lovers who travel from all over the world to try the extraordinary dishes created by Victor Arguinzoniz.

“The chef emphasizes natural flavors and prioritizes ingredients in the à la carte and 14-course tasting menus. All dishes are prepared on the grill, from the anchovies on toast and the succulent red shrimp to the milk ice cream with beetroot that ends the meal.”

1st place: Enjoy – Barcelona, ​​Spain

Known from the list, the winner of the world award is from Barcelona. Disfrutar offers unique dishes, which “are executed with exceptional technical skill and served in the most playful way possible”.

Chefs Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Mateu Casañas prepare two parallel 30-course menus: The Classic and The Festival. “Regardless of the menu you choose, one thing is certain: you will have the gastronomic experience of your life,” said the judges.

Brazilian restaurants on the list

27th place: Casa do Porco (São Paulo, Brazil)

The first Brazilian representative to appear on the list is already known in the ranking. Casa do Porco de São Paulo was ranked 27th in the world top 50! Last year, the restaurant reached 12th position.

There are several options on the menu, from a tasting menu to à la carte dishes that make use of all parts of the pig. There is also an artisanal selection of charcuterie, crispy cassava and roast pork, mortadella sandwich with watercress emulsion and pork tartar. The restaurant with quirky decor is run by co-chefs Janaina Rueda, voted the Best Female Chef in the World in 2024, and Jefferson Rueda.

37th place: Oteque – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The Oteque restaurant rose 40 places compared to last year and managed to join the list of the 50 best! Located in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro, chef Alberto Landgraf's main restaurant “is a Brazilian seafood temple”.

The welcoming and elegant space has a minimalist and sophisticated tasting menu, where fresh ingredients are the star of the show. A pickled sardine with raw foie gras and brioche, a succulent steamed oyster with pork skin and pork bone broth, and a chestnut ice cream dessert impress the guests.

As for Lasai, a Rio restaurant that was in 58th place in the previous edition, it maintained its place on the extended list of the best restaurants in the world in 2024.
