Come and discover the best hostel in Copenhagen! In this review, I will show you why you should stay at Steel House.
Copenhagen is famous for its canals and high prices, but there are affordable accommodations in Denmark’s capital. On our last trip, we stayed at Steel House, a perfect accommodation for solo travelers, couples and families!
Check out all the details to discover Steelhouse, perfect accommodation and the best hostel in Copenhagen!
Discover the best Hostel in Copenhagen: Steel House
I consider the steel house one of the best hostel options in Copenhagen with great value for money. It’s not just any hostel, simply because it guarantees you a completely different experience due to its facilities.
In addition to providing more private accommodation for solo travelers with capsule-style beds, it is an economical option for those traveling in groups. You can even rent the entire room for your family at a great price and I guarantee the kids will love it!
Steel House was one of the best-equipped hostels we stayed in on all our trips around the world, because it offers:
- kitchen,
- pool,
- academy,
- arcade,
- snooker,
- movie theater,
- bike rental,
- Washing machine,
- bar with great beers,
- karaoke,
- live music!
The place is really big, practically the entire building is the Steel House and has 3 elevators!
We found the atmosphere very cozy and relaxed, a place to enjoy the trip and make friends. Oh and the decor is amazing! It has this Nordic touch but at the same time it has a lot of color and different shapes. Check out the Complete Guide to this hostel in Copenhagen!
Location
Steel House Copenhagen is very close to the city’s main train station (København Hovedbanegård), just a 10-minute walk away. You can choose to use the metro and get off at Vesterport station, which is one block from the hostel. Tivoli is also very close, just 9 minutes away.
For those arriving from the airport, you can opt for the train to get off at Forum and walk a little alongside the canal (a cool option if it’s a sunny day!). We opted for this option and the ticket cost 80 DKK each.
Capsule-style hostel in Copenhagen
One of the things that really caught our attention was the fact that there are capsule beds inside the room. But don’t worry, they are not completely closed, so those who are afraid of tight spaces can rest assured too.
Each capsule has a very soft mattress with pillow, duvet and towel. It also has 2 sockets, USB inputs, lights and a storage compartment. The rooms are well lit and normally have up to 6 capsules.
Each has a bathroom with sink and mirror and separate shower, as well as large closets for you to store your things before heading out to explore the city.
You can rent the entire room to stay with just your family or friends, which gives you much more privacy. In our case, we were invited to see the facilities and stayed in a room with 6 capsules.

Swimming pool and gym
Not every hostel offers a pool and gym in one place! Both must be booked directly through the hostel website as there is a limit on the number of people on site and the duration is 1 hour. One of the reasons why I consider it the best hostel in Copenhagen!
Then you go to reception to get the key and, depending on the type of your reservation, there may be an extra fee for use (which I thought was fair).
The pool is very big and the water is warm, it was great to relax after a tiring day cycling around the city.
I thought the gym was excellent, as it was well equipped with several dumbbells, a bench for training your chest, a treadmill, blocks for jumping and so on. I confess that it looks better than the gym we normally go to! In this case, we exercise our arms since we are using our legs a lot from walking so much lol
Kitchen
One of the factors that hits the pockets of everyone who travels to Denmark is the price of dinner. It’s usually much more expensive than lunch and, in this case, access to a kitchen is wonderful.
The Steel House kitchen had several individual stoves, ovens and various utensils for making food such as knives, cutting boards, pans… The most complete hostel kitchen we have ever seen on our travels!
It’s worth stopping by the kitchen before going to the market as travelers who have left often leave salt or oil on the “free stuff” shelf. Then you don’t need to buy it!
We made a lasagna in the oven, we found it very practical and there was a lot of food!
Common area and lobby
The lobby is the largest part of the hostel and has the reception and bar, which sells beers, sandwiches, teas, coffees… It’s a good option for those who leave early and need to eat there.
We also saw other guests working as there are many tables with plugs and sofas. On certain days of the week they host shows with live music and fun events. Seriously, this is the best hostel in Copenhagen!
Games room and cinema
For those who like to make new friends or are already traveling with friends, you can enjoy the pool table, foosball or even the arcade games! Just buy a coin to play Tekken, Pacman, Star Wars, Toy Story and punch a bag lol.
In the next room, they placed a big screen to watch Netflix, transforming it into a cinema room with lots of comfortable sofas. On certain days, this room is used for yoga classes. You agree that this is the best hostel in Copenhagen, right?
Washing machines
Ahh the trouble for those traveling with a small suitcase! Finding time and even a cheap laundry service is more complicated on the road. In this hostel in Copenhagen you will find several washing and drying machines, so you don’t need to worry!
Bike rental
One of the most common things in Nordic countries is cycling. Locals use and abuse the cycle paths throughout the city and I confess that it is the best option for getting to know Copenhagen. The first time I visited the city I did everything on foot and it seemed to take a lot longer and I was more tired.
Steel House offers bicycles for rent by the day. We used it every day we were in the city and it was great. With a bicycle everything is much more practical and faster, not to mention it is safe if you follow the traffic rules well.

The most interesting thing is the padlock method: it is a circle that closes on the rear wheel and only opens if you put the key in and leave it connected. Remember: despite the security, bicycles are highly sought after in these countries, precisely because many locals have fun throwing their bikes in the canals lol
Final evaluation
Now you understand why I consider this the best hostel in Copenhagen, right! I detailed as much as possible in this review!
When I posted stories during our trip, many followers confirmed that they stayed at Steel House and really enjoyed it! The price is really good for everything it offers, not to mention the location. I believe it is a perfect accommodation option in Copenhagen for those traveling alone (possibility to make friends), young couples (private rooms or savings on shared rooms) or families (you can rent the entire room for a fair price, not to mention that the children will have fun with the capsules).
I found everything very good, comfortable and clean, not to mention the great service from the staff (very attentive and patient). The lobby also makes it possible to meet new people, relax or even work (hello digital nomads!)!
Enjoy and make your reservation at Steelhouse here!
