World Coffee Day - 8 super experiences for coffee lovers

I don't know, but here at home there's one thing you can't miss: coffee. Whether it's an espresso or a brewed coffee, in the morning or after lunch, plain or with milk, I'm always drinking my cup. Because tomorrow is the day to prepare a special one, as World Coffee Day is celebrated annually on April 14th.

Coffee is part of many people's lives. Going further, the grain is part of the economy of many countries, and Brazil is a major coffee producer – our exports, in fact, broke a record in March.

But, leaving the economy aside, let's focus on what interests us most on a daily basis: drinking. If you're a coffee fan like me, check out these eight coffee-related tours you can take with Civitatis.

1 – Coffee tour in Brasilia

I bet you didn't imagine that Brasilia It has a very strong coffee scene. There are dozens of coffee shops and even an exclusive itinerary where travelers learn about production methods and, of course (always the best part), taste some versions of the drink. During the three-hour tour, visitors visit three coffee shops and learn a little more about the types and production of drinks, in addition to tasting two coffees.

2 – Private coffee tour in Santos

The history of Santos is closely linked to the history of coffee in the country, as its port became the main export point for Brazilian coffee to the world. And how about finding out more about this? The itinerary for this private tour includes a visit to the Coffee Museum, which opened in September 1922, a coffee tasting in a traditional café and a tram ride to Monte Serrat, a place where former barons frequented casinos.

3 – Coffee tour of Medellín

They say that Colombian coffee is one of the best in the world, but unfortunately I haven't had the pleasure of trying it “on site” yet. But, if one day I go to Medellín, I've already written this trip down in my diary. The itinerary takes you to San Sebastián de Palmitas to visit a farm and learn about the coffee production process and also rapadura, known in Colombia as “panela”. Obviously there will be tastings of special coffees, but also typical dishes. All while admiring the beautiful landscapes of the region.

Those who prefer can also book the package that includes a one-hour horseback ride after visiting the farm.

4 – Coffee tour of Antioquia

We continue through Colombia on this tour that starts in Medellín and goes to a coffee farm in the province of Antioquia. After a talk about the benefits of coffee, visitors tour the plantations, taste coffee and sugar cane and even have a traditional lunch included in the package.

From Medellín we go to Bogotá, still in Colombia (you can already tell that coffee is very strong in the country, right?). This is an experience for visitors to learn all the tricks to serve a perfect coffee. Those who complete this tour will taste coffees made in different ways in the traditional Divino Café Especial: V60, Chemex, Aeropress and French press. Do you know each of these forms of extraction?

6 – Coffee and cocoa tour in Punta Cana

Coffee and chocolate, look what a perfect combination! How about visiting a plantation and discovering all the secrets of Dominican crops on a farm in the community of El Caño, less than an hour away? Punta Cana? In addition to visiting coffee and cocoa plantations, visitors also learn about the production of coconut oil, vanilla, sugar cane and mamajuana, a typical drink from the country. Oh, and it's worth mentioning that tastings of the products grown are carried out along the way. The entire tour lasts around five hours.

7 – Coffee and chocolate tour in Costa Rica

The cocoa, coffee and sugar cane tasting can be considered the best part of this experience, which is the end of the tour that takes place at the North Field Coffee farm, in Arenal, Costa Rica. 8 – Turkish coffee workshop in Istanbul

Turkey is another country well known for its coffee. And a special tour for “coffee lovers” in Istanbul. Here the experience is very different, as travelers will learn about the method of preparing Turkish coffee in the sand. The experience also includes a gift: a coffee set with a cezve (traditional Turkish coffee pot), a cup, coffee and a typical sweet.
